DAY 9: "The Gift of Mentoring"

SPECIAL ENTRY ABOUT S.A.F.E.
DAY 9: The Gift of Mentoring
Scripture: Romans 8:29

In the book, The Power of Mentoring: Shaping People Who Will Shape the World, Dr. Martin Sanders states that "the two indicators that seem to point people to a successful end in the development of life, faithfulness and effectiveness are: 1) the lifelong pursuit of character formation through various stages of life; and 2) the presence of a mentor(s) to guide them. [Mentoring and the Developmental Process, p.9; Christian Publications, Inc].

In 2012, the QUEST College Ministry and Young Adults Ministry will officially launch the S.A.F.E. Mentoring Program. S.A.F.E. stands for: S (Social & Relational); A (Academic & Career); F (Finances); and E (Encourgement). The purpose of this program is to help college/international students and young adults navigate through the challenges and opportunities of life during their age of learning. It is our heart that God will use this program to reach and serve this emerging generation in tangible ways. With the leadership of QUEST/YAM Leadership Development leader Marc Meade and a devoted team, months of preparation have led to this moment to impart truths and wisdom to those young men and women are seeking to fulfill their potential.

As we prepare for the launch in January 2012, we are seeking members of the Christ Church congregation who can serve as mentors. We are making an appeal to Christ Church members, ages 25 or above to serve as mentors. Whether you are single or married, QUEST/YAM are looking for a diverse team of mentors from various backgrounds and experiences that can help in the four areas of S.A.F.E.. This weekend (Saturday, December 10th & Sunday, December 11th), there will be a sign-up sheet at both campuses (Montclair & Rockaway, NJ) for those who are interested in participating in this exciting program. It is our prayer that you would consider this opportunity.

For more information, please reach me at RFaison@ChristChurchUSA.org or via phone at 973-783-1010 x270. Marc and I will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the program. We look forward to your participation in the S.A.F.E. Mentoring Program!

Blessings,
Ryan Faison
Director, QUEST College Ministry & Young Adults Ministry
