DAY 7: "The Star"
DAY 7: The Star
Scripture: Matthew 2:1-2
Recorded in Matthew 2:1-2, the Star of Bethlehem led the Wise Men from the East to Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The Star of Bethlehem, according to expert consensus, may have been the conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Saturn in the constellation Pisces in 7 B.C. having the appearance of an illuminious star. The tradition of a heavenly sign regarding Jesus was birthed out of Old Testament texts and manuscripts. The star was the sign that led to promises stated in scripture.
Heavenly signs are all around us, but can be found for those looking for it. Isaiah 60:3 states that "Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn." In the case of Jesus, this was true and remains true. The eternal truth of Scripture never diminishes and the star in Matthew 2:1-2 was a sign to the supernatural. How could virgin Mary conceive a child? Supernatural. How could this child one day come into His own and perform miracles, signs and wonders? Supernatural. How could this man at the age of 33 surrender His life and by His blood wash away the sins of mankind? Supernatural.
This Christmas, look for the supernatural. There are "stars" in your life that are pointing the way to miracles. There are "stars" that are pointing to deliverance. There are "stars" that are pointing to salvation. The choice before us is this: Will we search for the heavenly signs?
