DAY 2: "The King in a Manger"
“Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord!” (Luke 2:11).
The angelic hosts proclaim the birth of Christ the Lord in glorious fashion. The announcement of Christ coming to earth, Emmanuel (God is with us) ushers in a new chapter in history and eternity. With this supernatural proclamation, it is amazing that Christ the King was born in....a manger. The appearance of this scene was rugged and lacking what one would expect for a King. You would not find royal robes and jewels at the birth site of Jesus. Although wise men came to bring gifts, the gift of the world was not trumpted with a royal welcome. In fact, the birth of Jesus represented humility, a precursor of what His life would represent.
As we approach this Christmas, you may find yourself in a position does not have represent who you are. The person God has called you to be may not reflect the environment or situation that you are in. Whatever the case may be, be reminded that where you come from does not equate to where you are going! As Jesus was born in a manger and 33 years later, died on a cross, Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father. His Kingdom has no end and He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. But, Jesus was this and more when He was born in Bethlehem too. Jesus was the King in a Manger. Who are you where you are?
Lesson: Don't let your circumstances define who you are. Seek the Lord for your identity!
