DAY 5: "All I Want For Christmas"
DAY 5: "All I Want For Christmas"
Scripture: Isaiah 9:6-7
Pop superstar Justin Bieber released a Christmas album with the song by Mariah Carey, "All I Want For Christmas". Every Christmas, this song gets loads of airplay and renditions by several artists. Some of the lyrics in the chorus go, "I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know, make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is you." Although a popular song to play, the question remains: Is this all we want for Christmas -- each other?
What do you really want for Christmas? The presents that you receive or you give this year will eventually fade, break down or loose its new varnish. But, the best gift you can give this Christmas is Christ (who never fades, breaks down, and makes all things new). Here is the best part: you can give Christ through you!
Here are some reflection questions to review this day:
(1) Are you displaying/demonstrating Christ-likeness during this season?
(2) Can it be said of you that you exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)?
(3) Will you extend yourself, like Christ, to show love and compasssion to others?
As we reflect on the birth of Jesus, let us take these questions to heart and ask God to help us apply biblical principles in our daily lives for Christmas and beyond.
